The first session of the 64th General Assembly will resume at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12 when the Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia delivers the speech from the throne. This is the beginning of the fall sitting of the legislature and my first as the MLA for Bedford South.
MLAs assembled earlier this week to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speakers. Keith Bain, MLA for Victoria—The Lakes was elected Speaker. My colleague Angela Simmonds, MLA for Preston, as well as, Lisa Lachance, MLA for Halifax Citadel—Sable Island, will serve as Deputy Speakers.
The Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus is ready to work with government as we enter the first session since the election in August.
