I am happy to share the news that all three orders of government have announced that there will be $260 million in funding dedicated to build the terminal at Mill Cove and buy the ferries, with the first sailings happening in 2027-28.
This is a transformational investment for Bedford South and beyond. Here’s what it will mean: an 18 minute commute from Mill Cove to downtown Halifax, on an electric, high-speed vessel. Less traffic on the Bedford Highway and the 102, a brand new library at the terminal site, and more.
I have been advocating for this project since I was elected, but there are so many more who have been working on this idea for decades. Today is a great day for Bedford and an example of what can be achieved when all orders of government work together to achieve big things.
