LungNSPEI has launched a new program to assist low-middle income Nova Scotian households test and remediate their home of radon gas. The Radon Reduction Grant Program – Building Equitable Access to Radon Testing & Mitigation.
Why is this important?
Radon is an invisible radioactive gas that seeps into homes undetected. Long-term exposure to high levels of radon is the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer in Canada. The only way to know the radon levels in your home is to test.
LungNSPEI has launched this program to create greater access and to reduce barriers for Nova Scotians to be able to test their homes and remediate if high levels are found.
The Radon Reduction Grant Program is a two-pronged program that offers free long-term radon test kits to lower-income Nova Scotian households to test their homes. The program also provides grants up to $2,500 to assist with the cost of remediation for homes that have high levels.
