During the recent House session, I asked the Minister of Health why private school children were not given access to the same COVID-19 rapid tests as their public school counterparts. I’m happy to report that the province will soon be distributing take-home rapid tests for COVID-19 to private schools, among other locations.

Apply for help with household costs: Seniors Care Grant
As of December 1st, you can now apply for the Seniors Care Grant. This grant provides up to $500 in funding for eligible Nova Scotians aged 65 years and older who need help around their homes. Covered expenses include snow removal, small household repairs, lawn care, grocery delivery and other needs.
Provincial funding opportunities: Upcoming deadlines for sports and community recreation
The province provides funding to facilities. Community-run rinks and other recreation facilities can access funds to help with capital costs. Here are the upcoming deadlines and information on program eligibility for the Rink Revitalization Program and the Community Recreation Capital Grant.
Province builds on work of Affordable Housing Commission
The extension of rent control to the end of 2023 will provide the Province with some time to address the issue of supply in the affordable housing crisis. Urgency remains and I will continue to advocate on behalf of all my constituents to ensure that all the people of Bedford South have an affordable place to live.
